On March 23 of this year, Aurimas Bartuškas, the longtime manager of the Prienai Basketball Club, would have turned 57. On March 11, the “Labas GAS” club in Prienai and a large number of basketball fans honored his memory in a ceremony held during the match against the “Milk Stars” of Pasvali.
The long-time leader of the Prienai team arrived. coach Virginijus Šeškus sensitively remembered his comrade A. Bartuškas, who died a year ago, with whom he worked both on the basketball court and behind the scenes, looking for support for the club, in order to save the team representing Prien. Beautiful basketball festivals held in Prienai and important trophies won by the Prienai basketball team are associated with A. Bartuška’s name: 2011 – bronze medals of the Lithuanian Basketball League, 2014 – Cup of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The former manager of the club did not lack fighting spirit, he was passionately rooting for the team in every match, so V. Šeškus presented the cup dedicated to his memory to the current manager of the club, Maris Milaševičius (photo), who is making every effort to pull “Labas GAS” out of a period of failure and bring back the former glorious times . Alvydas Vaicekauskas, mayor of the municipality of Prienai District, spoke about A. Bartuška’s contribution to the history of basketball in Prienai.
The Prienai team played one of the most beautiful matches of this season, the pitch was furious, Mr. coach Maris Kiltinavičiis got a lot of nerves and a technical foul for arguing with the referees. Despite the close game, the help of the British Jordan Williams, who made his debut in this match, and opportunities to change the result in their favor, “Labas GAS” was forced to recognize the superiority of Pasvaly’s “Milk Stars”. Pasval’s basketball players won the match with the result 89:92 (22:26, 21:22, 22:22, 24:22).
Such an outcome of the match allowed the basketball players from Pasval to establish themselves in the tenth place in the standings, while the players from Prienix remain last.
