All Indian Bengali movie stars protest against Kolkata’s RG tax case. Popular Tollywood actress Sohini Sarkar joined the protest. In the meantime, this actress of ‘Open T Bioscope’ fame raised questions about the position of the stars in the political party.
Sohini Sarkar came live from her Facebook on Wednesday (28 August). In response to a netizen’s question, the actress said, ‘In my opinion, an artist can believe in a political ideology. But can’t go to any post. No artist should be under any political umbrella in 2024.’
Explaining the matter, Sohini Sarkar said, ‘No one is right after getting position and power. Because I am not alone. If the one above me is corrupt, I have to act like him. There is a magic in the mattress, which does not allow people to remain human. An artist may have a political consciousness. But I personally don’t believe in going after an artist. Even if someone goes, I oppose him.’
The night shift of August 8 was that of a woman doctor of RG Kar Medical College. His body was recovered from the seminar hall of the hospital the next morning. It is alleged that the young doctor was murdered after being raped. A civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy was arrested by the police in this incident.
On August 13, the Calcutta High Court ordered the CBI to investigate the case. The Central Bureau of Investigation has so far questioned several people for information related to the incident. Several were subjected to polygraph tests. However, CBI did not detain or arrest anyone after taking charge of the investigation.
