Dozens of citizens visited the area under the “Prista” hut on Sunday to attend the opening of the new “Path of Corruption”. The event was attended by the mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov, his deputy Encho Enchev and the director of OP “Parkstroy” Nikolay Kanchev. This was announced by the press center of Ruse municipality.
The initiative is organized by a group of volunteers who recently created the “Health for Prista Park” project and is supported by the Municipality of Ruse.
The organizer of the event – Albena Milkova, thanked for the support from the Municipality of Ruse and emphasized that after the active intervention of the municipal enterprises “Parkstroy” and “Communal activities” the area looks completely different. For his part, the mayor Pencho Milkov welcomed the participants in the Sunday ecowalk, congratulating the volunteers for their idea and its realization. “For several years we have been improving the park areas in Ruse and its surroundings, and in the long term we intend to take care of Prista Park as well, as it must have a sustainable maintenance model. Regarding the new path – it turns out that in the area, apart from the presence of quite a large number of owls, there are also over 80 species of birds, and I hope that everyone who will play sports or rest here will learn many new things,” said the mayor. Milkov said that it is planned to install video surveillance, considering the construction of a stone barbecue on the site next to the concrete stage and the installation of a wooden gazebo.

After the opening of the trail, the attendees had the opportunity to participate in the observation of several species of birds organized by Ruse Bird Walks – a common bee-eater, a gray heron, a river gull and several species of swallows. Interest was aroused by the QR codes placed on the sign indicating the beginning of the path, and when they are scanned, the sounds made by a number of species of birds in the park are reproduced.
The program of the event included orienteering games with a map and prizes for the most active participants. A picnic area was set up near the stage where the Golden Gobbler festival was held in the past, and 5 wooden tables with benches were installed by the organizers for the attendees and all those who will visit the area in the future. Improvised benches have been placed and along the path itself.
The organizers of the initiative plan to soon clean the steps next to the stage, which lead to an alley on the ridge of the hill, connecting the area itself with the “Prista” hut.
