Josefa María Sánchez Pérez, substitute municipal president of Teopisca, Chiapas, ratified in office, on March 13 by the Xalapa Regional Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), expressed her confidence in the members of the local Congress so that he can remain in the post.

She recalled that since she took office on September 22, politicians from the region from past administrations have not allowed her to work as she would like and “they have put many obstacles for me.”

In an interview, Sánchez Pérez pointed out that according to unofficial information, the councilors of the city council are presenting their resignations but until now there is no confirmation from the Legislature, whose plenary session ratified her in office on November 17 and then on January 25.

He pointed out that the councilors, both owners and substitutes, would be presenting their resignations “under pressure and threats”, which, he said, “violates my political rights based on gender.”

“They are not letting me work as I would like,” he reproached while expressing his confidence in the local deputies, so that they assess, make the best decision and that they do not make the same mistake as last year when Congress decreed the disappearance of powers in the location.

Josefa María Sánchez sent a message to the councilors who were elected and took a protest on October 1: “let’s assume our charge responsibly, the population of Teopisca, its inhabitants gave their vote and that is why we are here.” (The Day)
