In the US, preliminary work has begun on the creation of a full-length anime based on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
The film is produced by the cartoon division of the Warner Bros film studio, Warner Bros. Animation.
The anime-style cartoon is titled “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim”. It will be directed by Japanese animator Kenji Kamiyama and written by Jeffrey Addis and Will Matthews, who previously collaborated on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. At the same time, Philip Boyens, one of the scriptwriters of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, has been appointed a consultant to the project.
It is noted that the plot of the anime will be devoted to the story of King Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and the action will unfold hundreds of years before the events of the Peter Jackson trilogy.
