Marco Antonio Navarro Tacoronte has been arrested this morning at the Hotel Elba Vecindario, in Gran Canaria. His arrest is due to a requisition from the court of investigation number four of Arrrecife and will go to judicial disposition in the court of Guardia de San Bartolomé de Tirajana. At the moment I do not know the crime that he is accused of, but Navarro Tacoronte was the man who gave his name to the so-called ‘Mediator case’, the alleged corruption plot that splashes politicians and businessmen, both in the Canary Islands and throughout the country.
Twelve people are being investigated for alleged crimes of bribery, document falsification, influence peddling and money laundering, including former PSOE deputy in Congress Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, known as ‘Tito Berni’, the former General Director of Government Livestock of the Canary Islands Taishet Fuentes and the General of the Civil Guard Francisco Espinosa, among others, in addition to the intermediary himself, Navarro Tacoronte, who has just been arrested for another reason.
Precisely, Juan Bernardo and Thaiset appeared before the magistrate a week ago to undergo a calligraphic test. Both refused to testify.
