SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, which opens the ballots for the primary elections for the nomination of the majority of its MEP candidates, sets the bar for the European elections in the percentage of the national elections.
This is an unprecedented process of electing candidates from the grassroots, which will be held next Sunday, April 14 across the country, so that the elected and the small number of candidates, who will be chosen by the president Stefanos Kasselakis, will be presented on April 18.
For Epirus, the presentation event of the candidates in the primary elections for the final composition of the European ballot of SYRIZA-P.S. will be held by the Prefectural Committee of Ioannina tomorrow, Wednesday, at 7 pm, in the event hall of “The Lake” hotel, in the area of Limnopoula. For the first time, a register of friends of SYRIZA-PS will also be “opened”, who will be able to vote.
In view of the European elections, the coordinator of N.E. Vassilis Economou of Ioannina noted that SYRIZA – P.S. asks for the positive vote of the citizens, putting forward ten major goals for the course of the European Union. These are Europe’s strategic autonomy, anti-fascist Europe – a barrier to far-right hatred, fair and sustainable growth so that austerity does not return, fair green transition, social Europe with fair labor market transformation, eradicating poverty and social exclusion, Europe of equality and rights, a Europe without digital inequalities in the age of artificial intelligence, a European migration policy with real solidarity and a democratic Europe.
The member of the Central Electoral Committee of the party Lila Sulele noted the innovation of the decision-making process from the grassroots and added, when asked about it, that the goal is the electoral percentage of SYRIZA in the national elections of 2023. He emphasized that the citizens should – in all the member states – to treat the elections as national elections, given the challenges facing Europe, the war in Ukraine, the economic distress, the lack of political leadership and defense policy.
The primaries
There are nine candidates for MEP candidates in Epirus. It is the computer and IT engineer Ioannis Andrikos, Mr. head of the Department of Planning & European Programs of the Municipality of Igoumenitsa Pantelis Karapiperis, the former MP of Thesprotia Marios Katsis, the doctor and doctor of the University Nikolaos Kotsis, the business executive Giorgos Lambrakoulis, the owner of the radio station Vasilios Moukas, the legal – business executive Vasilios Botsios, the civil servant Angeliki Natsis and the lecturer at the University of Northern Ireland Dimitrios Pappa.
The members and friends of the party will vote with a cross, while one is also the candidate who will be nominated from Epirus on the party’s European ballot.
The election process will be held from 8 am to 8 pm with the possibility of extension. In the PE of Ioannina, as announced by the coordinator of the Prefectural Committee Eleni Kolokouri, two polling stations will operate in the National Stadium “Zosimades”, as well as in the KEP in the former City Hall of Pedini, in the former City Hall of Katsika, in the former City Hall of Zitsa in Eleousa, in the City Hall of Konitsa and in the Offices of SYRIZA in Parakalamos .
