Federico Salas, Mexico’s ambassador to India, reported in an interview some details of the tragic accident at the Monte Everest that claimed the life of a Mexican family on July 11.

“It was a family of five people who were tourists. (…) They were father and mother and three children. (…) They (the children) were adults, they were not small, ”he declared for this medium and explained that the family moved from India to Nepal to take an air trip to the highest mountain in the world.

“Unfortunately, this accident happened.”

The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority and the helicopter rental company, Manang Air, identified the deceased compatriots as Fernando Sifuentes, Abril González, Luz González Olacio, María José Sifuentes and Ismael Rincón.

In this regard, the Mexican diplomat ruled out that the children were minors and announced that the Government of Mexico had already contacted a close relative in the Aztec nation.

He indicated that the Mexican Embassy approached “a brother or sister of one of the parents.”

Questioned by the entity of which they were residents, Salas Lotfe announced that they could be from Nuevo León, according to their passport records.

“The address we have is in Nuevo León, but I can’t tell you if they are from there or in more detail,” he said.

The Mexican ambassador to India confirmed reports that Fernando, Abril, Luz, María José and Ismael had traveled to the Asian nation to visit Mount Everest on a helicopter flight.

Federico Salas added for Infobae México that the Mexican family traveled to Nepal from India, a nation to which they planned to return on July 12:

“We know that they were in India and they arrived in Nepal in two days and returned to India on the 12th. (…) But we do not have the data on how long they have been here (India).”

The family contracted the services of Manang Air.

The plan was to fly over the mountain range aboard a 9N-AMV unit to land in Kathmandu.

However, the vehicle lost contact 10 minutes after takeoff and the bodies of the family and the pilot were found by Nepalese authorities hours later in the district of Let’s rememberin the Lamjura Pass.
