MG Motor has announced the launch date of its Comet EV in India. The company will launch its second electric vehicle in the country on April 19. The MG Comet EV will also be the company’s smallest vehicle in India.

MG Motor will announce the price of the Comet EV later. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in the country next month.

The upcoming MG electric car is an updated version of the Wuling Air EV currently sold in Indonesia and other international markets. The MG Comet EV will compete against the Tata Tiago EV in India.

MG Comet EV Expected Features

The MG Comet EV is based on SAIC’s GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) open-EV platform. The vehicle is a three-door, four-seater micro hatchback. It measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,631 mm in height and 1,505 mm in width.

The EV sits on a 2,010mm wheelbase. It features twin projector headlamps and a charging port placed in the center of the front fascia. One can also see vertical tail lamps with LED light bar and LED light bar at the rear.

The electric vehicle has a battery capacity of 20kWh. It is said to be iCAT certified for a range of 250 km. The company will buy the battery from Tata Autocomb. It may be equipped with a single, rear-axle motor with an output of 45hp.

The interior of the EV will have dual screens – digital instrument cluster and infotainment system
