The former tennis player was sued by the producer of the farewell tour, due to non-compliance and compensation for damages.

The former tennis player Fernando Gonzalez faces a millionaire demand by businessman Leonardo Viera, who was the organizer of his farewell tourwhich was suspended from one day to the next.

The legal action for termination of contract, breach and compensation for damages, requests a sum that amounts to 210 million pesos.

As for the cities that the tour contemplated in its planning, they were Iquique, Coquimbo, Sea Vineyard, Talca, Chillan, Concepcion, Temuco, Valdivia, Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas and Santiagowhere Fernando González would face tennis players like the Argentine Jose Acasuso and the Peruvian Luis Horna.

To materialize this, the Queen’s Bomber and the owner of the Kamada Live production company signed a document where Leonardo Viera “was obliged to Provide your services as a producer, organizer, coordinate eventsand promote them through an appropriate media and marketing plan.”

Fernando González, for his part, had to “provide their services as a participant in tennis exhibition matches at the events of the organized farewell tour.”

In addition to this, both agreed that the liquid amount raised in each match would be distributed equally.

However, the businessman accused that the Olympic medalist broke the relationship from one moment to the nextin the run-up to the match that was going to be played in Chillan. The situation occurred even though the resources had already been spent.

“The director of the Fernando González tennis school informed my client that the defendant, completely unilaterally, decided to cancel the entire tour, arguing what happened with Chillán, and for alleged errors in the production of the events of the cities of Coquimbo and Viña del Mar,” the lawsuit states.

The details of Fernando González’s suspended farewell tour

Although the farewell tour planned the organization of several events throughout Chile, they were only played two matcheswhich took place in Coquimbo and Viña del Mar. In both duels, Fernando González faced off against José Acasuso.

“My client (Leonardo Viera) was the one who managed the tickets, stay and also his cash payment of US$3,500 dollars for each city (US$7,000 in total) which was carried out in the presence of the defendant,” explains the document from the plaintiff.

It is for this reason that Leonardo Viera requested the 11th Civil Court of Santiago that the former tennis player pay him compensation of $210.273.524.

This amount stipulates the expenses incurred in the city of Iquique, payment for graphic and communications work, commissions to the ticket company on sales and $80 million for lost profits, due to the tour’s eight canceled events. In addition to this, he demanded payment of $100 million for moral and emotional damage.

The defense of the former tennis player

Fernando González referred to the lawsuit through his lawyer, Germán Subercaseaux, who explained before the court that the legal action lacks two requirements.

“There is no clear statement of the facts on which to pursue an action to terminate the contract with compensation for damages against my client.”points out the defense.

To which he added: “In the section on damages, it simply states them along with their respective amounts, without even giving further details about them. This makes it impossible for my client to adequately exercise his right of defense.”

To close, González’s defense accused that the plaintiff did not support the sums he demanded.
