“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has received the resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Ivanovich Kuleba,” wrote Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk on Facebook.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada added that the statement will be considered in one of the next plenary sessions.
At least six Ukrainian officials, including cabinet members, tendered their resignations on Tuesday and a presidential aide was dismissed as the ruling party announced a major government reshuffle.
The government reshuffle comes as Kyiv faces mounting challenges, including daily Russian bombardment, and as President Volodymyr Zelensky tries to build trust in the government two and a half years after the full-scale war began.
“As promised, a major government reshuffle can be expected this week. More than 50% will be replaced. employees of the Cabinet of Ministers”, David Arachamija, the head of the parliamentary faction of the governing party “Servant of the Nation”, wrote in Telegram.
“Tomorrow will be a day of layoffs and the day after tomorrow will be a day of appointments,” he said.
Several Ukrainian ministers – strategic industry, justice and environmental protection – submitted their resignations already on Tuesday evening.
Also, the head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, Vitaly Kovalis, and Deputy Prime Ministers Iryna Vereshchuk and Olga Stefanišyna resigned.
Meanwhile, the deputy head of V. Zelensky’s office and one of the most important assistants of the president, Rostyslav Šurma, was dismissed from his position, according to the presidential decree.
Since the start of the war, Zelenskiy has carried out several reshuffles: in September last year, he fired the defense minister amid corruption scandals, and recently replaced the army commander-in-chief after failures on the battlefield.
The Ukrainian leader’s first presidential term, which began in 2019, ended in May, but he remained in office under martial law.
