Today, Tuesday, Minister of Health Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi announced that more than 1,700,000 surgical operations were performed last year.
A statement from the Ministry, received by the (INA), stated that “health teams in health institutions made great efforts and performed more than 1,700,000 surgical operations throughout Iraq during the past year, including cold and emergency cases.”
He added, “The number of special operations reached (46,980) surgical operations, and the super-major operations (302,285) and major operations (339,419), while the average operations reached (372,805) and minor (646,800) surgical operations.”
He pointed out that “the operations varied between general surgery, ear, nose and throat operations, gynecology and obstetrics, open heart, fractures and bones, urinary tract, chest surgery, eyes, plastic surgery, nervous system, face and jaws, blood vessels, kidney transplantation, and pediatric surgery.” Fertility, digestive system, catheterization, etc.
He continued, “Health teams performed (1,460,829) surgical operations during the year 2022, including (33,019) special operations, (953,180) supra-major operations, (272,010) major operations, (290,295) medium operations, and (612,325) minor operations.”
