Rescuers lowered eight members of the climbing group that had previously requested help from the slope of Elbrus. Their condition is assessed as moderate. The Minister of Health of Kabardino-Balkaria Rustam Kalibatov told TASS about it.

According to him, the condition of the rescued is “relatively satisfactory.” One victim with a broken leg was sent to the Republican Hospital, the rest are also being helped.

The minister noted that, most likely, all the rescued will be taken to a hospital in Nalchik, where, depending on the condition of the injured, doctors will determine the tactics – someone will be hospitalized, someone will be sent for outpatient treatment. “Those who were launched have no threat to their lives. Now they are lowering the heavier ones,” he added.

Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the search and rescue group found two more climbers. It was noted that people are alive. Thus, all members of the group of 19 people who were on the mountain were found. Three of them have no signs of life.

A group of 19 climbers, located at an altitude of more than five thousand meters on Elbrus, requested help from rescuers the night before. It initially included 23 people, but four refused to climb.
