G. Hatzimarkos: In your person, we thank the personnel of the Hellenic Army for the environment of peace and security that we enjoy
The Regional Governor Giorgos Hatzimarkos was met by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, immediately after his visit to the headquarters of 95 ADTE in Rhodes. During their meeting at the District building, the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Yannis Pappas, the MPs of New Democracy, Manos Konsolas, Mika Iatridis and Vassilis Ypsilantis, the Head of GEETHA, Dimitris Houpis, the Rural Deputy Governor, Christos Efstratiou, were also present. and the Commander of the 95 ADTE Major General, George Manouras.
“In the person of you and the Chief of GEETHA, who we have the honor of welcoming you to our offices today, I thank the entire Armed Forces, the women and men who serve the country and offer national and social work” said the Regional Governor welcoming the Minister and thanking him for the extraordinary honor of his visit. “The rate of development of our islands is going extremely well, but an economy has scope for growth thanks to the environment of peace and security that the Armed Forces offer us,” he pointed out.
Afterwards, Mr. Hatzimarkos referred to the excellent cooperation of the Region with the Greek Army, informing the Minister about the four projects financed by the South Aegean Region, honoring the relationship of trust and life that the islanders have with the Greek Army: the building upgrade of TE Leros, the Military Hospital 95 TYETH as well as five buildings of the Air Force in Karpathos. However, his reference to the port infrastructure project on the island of Ro was special, which
is completed in about a month. “A ship tied up in the port of Ro is our own way of fulfilling our national duty” characteristically commented the Regional Governor.
