Last week, the general secretary of the DGT, Pere Navarro, revealed that in 2024 there would be tolls on highways, but later he said he was confused. The Government denied it. However, the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, has acknowledged that they are renegotiating in this regard with the European authorities so as not to have to implement payment on highways.

There are official government documents sent to Brussels containing the toll proposal. “We are renegotiating those terms of what was included in the recovery, transformation and resilience plan and we are analyzing that possibility right now,” explained the head of Transport. The Government is analyzing “this pay-per-use system.”
