Thiruvananthapuram: Aneera Kabir, who had applied to the Legal Services Authority to get a lawyer to apply for euthanasia on the grounds that she could not live as a trans woman, has been dismissed by Education Minister V.S. Shivankutty called and spoke. The Minister directed the Deputy Director of Education to prepare the conditions for Anira to continue working in the existing school.

Anira told the minister that she was not allowed to work and live decently as a trans woman and that she had lost her temporary teaching job at a government school in Palakkad. Anira told the minister that her brother had died in an accident a few days ago and that she had been tasked with protecting the family. The minister inquired about Anira’s family background and educational qualifications. Anira said she has two postgraduate degrees, an MD and a set.

The Minister spoke on the phone with the Palakkad Deputy Director of Education regarding the issue. The Minister directed the Palakkad Deputy Director of Education to take necessary steps to give back the job lost to Aneera. The Minister directed that a detailed petition be submitted to him pointing out the crisis facing Aneera. Aneera informed that she will meet the Minister in Thiruvananthapuram and submit the petition.
