The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts Moussa Moïse Sylla, accompanied by a large delegation from his department, participated in the reception of the mortal remains at the cargo terminal around 9 p.m. and accompanied the body to the Ignace Deen hospital.

The funeral of this great griot took place the following day at the People’s Palace. The ceremony took place in the presence of many personalities, relatives, and sympathizers, all deeply affected by this loss for the country and the cultural world.

In his speech, the Minister praised the artistic talent of the artist, whose influence extended beyond our borders, and who conveyed messages of unity, peace, and cultural pride. “Today, even in the face of this inert and lifeless body, it is not death that we celebrate but life. Yes, the life of an artist who knew how to marry tradition and modernity, carrying high the values ​​of Guinean music,” he said, emphasizing that Mory Djely Deen leaves a void that is difficult to fill. He conveyed the condolences of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the government to the family, and assured the support of the President, Protector of Arts and Letters. He also presented his condolences to the family of Madame Fanta Kaba of the Ballets Africains, who recently passed away.

After the funeral, the Minister and his delegation went to the great Faisal Mosque for the funeral prayer, before heading to the Cameroon cemetery for the burial of Mory Djely Deen Kouyaté. In addition, another delegation led by the Secretary General, Mr. El Hadj Ibrahima Kobelé Kéita, visited the grieving family to reiterate the Ministry’s condolences.
