The Ministry of Economy expects a rise in prices for non-food products by 7.2% by the end of the year

By the end of 2021, the most expensive non-food products, including gasoline and tobacco, are expected by the Ministry of Economy. The department predicts that prices for food products and housing and communal services will also rise.

The Ministry of Economy has prepared a forecast of certain inflation indicators for 2021-2024, Izvestia reports. According to the ministry, by the end of this year, prices for non-food products (including gasoline, building materials, tobacco products, fabrics) will grow by 7.2%. In 2022-2024, inflation of non-food products should not exceed 4%, the department calculates.

Food products (excluding fruits and vegetables) will also rise in price – by 6.6%, according to the forecast. On average, food prices will rise by 7% per year. In the next three years, inflation in this sector will be 3.8%, 3.5% and 3.6%, respectively, the Economy Ministry expects.

The cost of goods, according to the calculations of the ministry, by the end of the year will grow by 6.2%. Services of housing and communal services organizations will rise in price by 3.8%, other services – by 4.8%, follows from the forecast.

According to Rosstat, in September inflation accelerated to 0.6%; since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in Russia have grown by 5.32%. Tomatoes, cucumbers and oranges, as well as garlic and eggs, rose the most in food prices last month. The head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said that Russia is at the peak of annual inflation.
