A fire broke out in several sections of the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region, where smoke broke out on November 25, said the acting head of the Ministry of Emergencies Alexander Chupriyan.
“The fences, which are made both from the outside and inside the mine, indicate that at least carbon monoxide has increased fivefold, and acytene has also increased. The growth of acetylene and carbon means that combustion occurs at some points in the mine, ”Chupriyan said (quoted by TASS).
According to him, there were no repeated explosions in the mine. On Monday, due to the excess concentration of acetylene, the operation to search for the dead was suspended. The timing of the end of the operation is still unknown, because the situation in the mine is still difficult due to the excess concentration of gases.
On November 25, at the Listvyazhnaya mine (owned by the HC SDS-Ugol, a member of Mikhail Fedyaev’s Siberian Business Union), there was a strong smoke. According to the preliminary version of the prosecutor’s office, the explosion of methane was the cause of the accident. At the time of the incident, there were 285 people underground, 239 of them were raised to the surface. A detachment of mine rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of six people went for the rest, but later communication with him was lost. All rescuers were declared dead, but a day later one of them was found alive and raised to the surface. According to the latest data, 51 people died – 46 miners and five rescuers. Search work continues.
The Investigative Committee opened two criminal cases. Five people were arrested – the director of the mine, Sergei Makhrakov, his first deputy, Andrei Molostov, and the head of the site, Sergei Gerasimenok, as well as two inspectors of Rostekhnadzor, Sergei Vinokurov and Vyacheslav Semykin. The management of the mine is accused of violating industrial safety rules, and the inspectors are accused of negligence during inspections.
