The Ministry of Energy received another appeal regarding the admission to export of pipeline gas, Interfax reports, citing Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov. Now the right to export pipeline gas is legally assigned to Gazprom.

“There was one more appeal, but we must first learn, prepare, formulate the requirements for agency contracts on the experiment. After that, you can someday discuss the topic with other companies, ”he said.

In early December, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government, together with Rosneft and Gazprom, by March 1, 2022, to submit agreed proposals to conduct an experiment on pipeline gas supplies from Rosneft to Europe in the amount of up to 10 billion cubic meters, the agency reported.

On October 6, Rosneft Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin, at a meeting on energy development with the participation of Vladimir Putin, proposed implementing a pilot project to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas. m of gas from the company’s resources to stabilize the situation on the EU gas market. The head of Rosneft stressed that the implementation of the pilot project is relevant “both from the point of view of market stabilization and the formation of additional budget revenues.”

As UBS previously noted, the admission of Rosneft to gas exports via Nord Stream 2 will allow it to meet the requirements of the EU antimonopoly legislation and, as a result, avoid relevant claims from the European Commission. According to Bank of America, the abolition of Gazprom’s monopoly “will allow the country to increase its share in the world gas market and ensure that supplies comply with the norms of the Third Energy Package.”
