This came in a letter addressed by the Minister of Finance, Khaled Al-Mabrouk, to ministers and heads of public departments, bodies and institutions, asking them to “instruct the relevant departments affiliated with them to adhere to and abide by the stamp tax law, and to refer taxes on a regular basis to the department,” according to a post on the ministry’s page on “ “Facebook.”
The minister pointed out the text of the law that “amounts spent to public entities other than those funded from the state’s general budget are subject to tax at the rate of five per thousand of the amount disbursed, and the burden of the tax falls on the person to whom the amount is spent.”
