The Ministry of Industry and Trade estimated the average mark-up on goods in stores at 15-16%

by time news

The mark-up on products in retail is more than 15-16%, goods with a higher mark-up are not included in the social basket, said Viktor Yevtukhov, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The comments were made shortly after Rosstat confirmed a record annual inflation rate of 8.39% since 2015.

“In general, the average mark-up on goods in retail chains is no more than 15-16%. Of course, there are goods with a higher margin, but these are not essential goods, they are not included in the social basket. We are talking about anchor goods, for which buyers often come, “said Mr. Evtukhov on the air of the Russia-24 channel.

Earlier, amid rising prices, large Russian retailers – X5 Group and Magnit – notified the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) that they would limit the mark-up on basic products to no more than 10%. Both retailers are ready to hold the markup bar throughout 2022.
