Within the past day, a total of 40 drivers who got behind the wheel after consuming alcohol were identified. The data shows that 22 of them were driving after consuming alcohol from 0.5 to 1.2 per thousand, 18 – with more than 1.2 per 1000, and one refused to be tested. 13 drivers were found to be driving under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues, two others refused to be tested. This is indicated by the interim results of the specialized police operation for compliance with the Road Traffic Law, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

During the campaign, 12,327 motor vehicles were checked. 14,508 drivers and passengers were checked. 3282 slips and 629 acts for established administrative violations were drawn up.

A few days ago, the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted the man arrested for the accident near a public transport stop in Sofia yesterday, in which several people were injured. He is charged with causing grievous bodily harm in a speeding accident while driving after using cocaine.
