The Ministry of Internal Affairs opposed the punishment of traffic police inspectors for illegal fines

The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not support the bill on administrative responsibility for traffic police officers for illegally issued fines, because the punishment for this is already established by law, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The press service said that for each illegally issued fine, an internal audit is carried out, based on the results of which response measures are taken.

A similar position was previously expressed in the State Duma. The government indicated that disciplinary sanctions are already being applied to violating police officers (up to and including dismissal), and citizens can appeal the fine through the public services portal.

Earlier, a group of deputies and senators from the LDPR submitted a bill to the State Duma, which proposes to establish administrative responsibility for traffic police inspectors for illegally issued fines. The authors of the initiative proposed to fine traffic police officers in the amount of the imposed fine, but not less than 5,000 rubles.

In 2021, more than 160.8 million offenses were recorded in automatic mode. According to Kommersant, about 300,000 fines a year are cancelled.
