The Ministry of Justice entered lawyer Safronov into the register of foreign media agents

The Ministry of Justice added Ivan Pavlov, a lawyer to the former journalist of Kommersant and Vedomosti, and adviser to the head of Roscosmos, Ivan Safronov, to the register of media outlets performing the functions of a foreign agent. This is stated on the website of the ministry.

In addition, the Ministry of Justice added four more former employees of the human rights project Team 29 to the register of foreign media – Valeria Vetoshkin, Maksim Conspiracy, Maksim Olenichev and Elena Skvortsova. The reasons for entering the register on the ministry’s website are not indicated. At the moment, the register includes 93 individuals and legal entities.

The Ministry of Justice also entered the Russian LGBT Network Interregional Public Movement into the register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a “foreign agent”. This register still consists of three organizations, it also includes the OVD-Info media project and the Golos movement.

The Law on Foreign Media Agents has been in effect since the end of 2019. According to it, Russian media outlets recognized as such must label their materials, and foreign media are also required to create legal entities in Russia. There is a fine for the lack of marking. In addition, foreign agents are required to report on their activities to the Ministry of Justice and provide information on how funds received from abroad were spent. Now in the register of the Ministry of Justice there are 88 legal entities and individuals recognized as foreign media agents.
