The Ministry of Labor denounces that officials with a collective contract receive bonuses of USD 460 for daycare – La Nación

He Ministry of Labor continues to reveal excessive benefits received by public officials who are part of collective contracts. One of them corresponds to a monthly bonus for daycare, according to Ivonne Núñez, head of the State portfolio.

During her appearance before the Oversight Commission of the National Assembly, on June 11, the official explained that public workers with this type of contract receive monthly USD 460. This, although the approved amount by the Ministry of Labor in 2023 was USD 93.

Through Ministerial Agreement, the entity established that public servants who have children under five years old and, who do not have a daycare in the institution where they work, will receive the monthly payment so that they can pay for their care.

The benefit came into effect on June 22, 2023 and only one of the parents can access it, in the event that both work in public institutions and neither provides childcare services.

The Ministry of Finance must deliver reports that enable contracts

On June 11, the Ministry of Labor issued the Regulation of collective contracts and transactional minutes for the public and private sectors.

It establishes that the institution will review collective contracts subscribed in public institutions, decentralized autonomous governments, public companies and other entities, to determine if, prior to their subscription, they had the mandatory and binding opinion from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.​​

It will also be verified that the managers y administrators and those who exercise legal representation in public entities and companies, under no circumstances, benefit from the clauses of collective contracting.

Public servants of free appointment and removal will be excluded from the collective contracting. Also those who occupy executive positions, direction, management, consultancy, positions of trust, career public servants, servants and officials subject to regimes other than the Labor Code.
