After March 1, individuals can throw old household appliances into trash cans, the restrictions will affect only legal entities and entrepreneurs, the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.

“From March 1, the obligation to dispose of old equipment will affect only legal entities and entrepreneurs. Residents will be able to leave broken household appliances and computers at the garbage yard or transfer them for recycling,” the press service explained. The report also says that information about the introduced fines for citizens for non-compliance with the rules of waste management is not true.

From March 1, according to the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the list of things that cannot be thrown into garbage cans will be supplemented by household appliances, computer system units, boards and hard drives. All of these items will need to be handed over for recycling, for example, to collection points, garbage operators or shops that accept goods for recycling.

Penalties are provided for violations. So, for organizations they will be 100,000-250,000 rubles. In case of repeated violation, the amount rises to 250,000-400,000 rubles. If, as a result of non-compliance with the requirements, damage to people or the environment is caused, the fine will be 400,000-500,000 rubles. respectively.

Since 2021, Russia has a rule that prohibits the removal of 182 types of goods to landfills, including mercury lamps, thermometers, car tires, phones and batteries. It is also forbidden to throw construction waste, saw cuts of trees and bushes, foliage, grass, chemicals, medical waste and light bulbs into garbage cans. Old furniture should not be placed in the container, but can be left next to it in the large waste area.
