The Ministry of Tourism paid BGN 4.3 million for housing Ukrainians

The Ministry of Tourism paid out funds in the total amount of BGN 4,294,381.95 to the persons who provided shelter and food under the Program for Humanitarian Assistance to Displaced Persons from Ukraine granted temporary protection in the Republic of Bulgaria, the department announced. The paid sums should arrive in the accounts of all candidates by tomorrow at the latest.

Approved on August 14 by Decision of the Council of Ministers, List No. 23 includes amounts due to hoteliers, state, municipal and departmental bases for reporting periods for the months of February, March and April 2024.

Funds have been paid for 204 approved applications to those applying for assistance, with 9,377 persons identified as entitled to assistance. The verified total number of overnight stays for these persons is 262,285, the Ministry announced.

Last week, the Ministry of Tourism informed that the Resolution of the Council of Ministers on the payment of 4.2 million BGN to the accommodation facilities that accepted Ukrainian refugees was published in the “State Gazette”, assuring that the department will administer the payment of the humanitarian aid without delay aid after receiving the approved amount in its budget.

In the second half of June, funds in the amount of BGN 9,275,665.80 were paid to the persons who provided overnight stays under the program. List No. 22, approved on June 5 by Decision of the Council of Ministers, includes amounts due to hoteliers, state, municipal and departmental bases for November and December 2023, as well as for January and February 2024, writes BTA.
