This 52-minute documentary highlights 6 popular artistic genres among those most widespread on the banks of Oued Drâa, from “Aflan Draa” to “Bab al-Mhamid”, composed of traditional oral arts and others that combine dance and poetry, indicates a press release from the ministry.

The documentary film deals with the changes that popular arts have experienced on the banks of Drâa, in substance, with the transformation of certain dances from warlike to festive, or in form, from performance on horseback to performance. performance on floor, or from dance in two rows to dance in one row, in addition to the convergences that exist between the popular arts of Drâa and other Moroccan popular arts.

The documentary “Popular Arts on the Banks of Drâa” hosted 8 local troupes in 8 different locations in the province of Zagora, namely the Oasis, the banks of the Oued, the Kasbah and historical sites as well as modern hotels , composing a harmonious artistic picture which promotes the tourist influence of the province.

This film also invited a host of specialized teachers, like the researcher in intangible heritage of the Drâa region, Mohamed El Jilali, the researcher and author of the work “Popular Poetry in Drâa”, Mustafa Addafli, as well as professor of modern literature, Ali Al Motaki and doctoral student Ali Fadili.

The documentary attempts to report on the transformations experienced by the various popular arts on the banks of Oued Drâa, influenced by the change in lifestyle marked by the transition from nomadism to sedentary lifestyle, as well as the impact of cultural and ethnic on these arts, generating more than 20 popular artistic genres.

Among the genres listed are the “Roukba” combining dance, rhythmic speech and poetry, the “Rasma”, considered a poetic genre par excellence, in addition to “Laabid” or “Gnaoua”, linked to the suffering of slaves brought from sub-Saharan countries, the “Ahidous” dances and the art of “Lhadra”.
