“We leave the registration so that people who want their place in the defense plans, so that they know that algorithm and that registration will always be alive. The information campaign, when it will be necessary to invite according to the needs of the army, will be a matter of next year,” said L. Kasčiūnas to Eltai.

According to the minister, although the exact number of those who have registered so far is not known, it seems that it will reach about 5.5 thousand.

“On Sunday, we will know the exact number of people who registered until August 31. I have no doubt that 5.5 thousand has been reached. limit This is a limit that I didn’t think we would reach in the initial stages, so I’m quite happy about it,” he said.

As previously announced, the first training of registered persons should begin in October.

“The first 70 people will be invited to some training ground for a few days. These persons will be trained in curfew functions: the fight against subversive groups, roadblocks, and infrastructure protection, a bit of theory, practical actions,” said L. Kasčiūnas. Those who have registered for the commandant’s office will still need to have their health checked before the start of training – the condition will have to meet the standards of the Riflemen’s Union, not the standards adapted to the workload of the professional service, the minister said.

ELTA reminds that the Ministry of National Defense (KAM) has indicated that registered persons will be invited to exercises as part of the military units of the military commandant’s offices from 3 to 10 days a year. During the exercise, it is intended to ensure the provision of weapons and equipment. In the event of war, citizens included in the commandant lists and having acquired military skills will help defend their town or district, protect important objects in the residential environment, control posts, ensure curfew compliance, participate in the property requisition process, monitor the environment, fight against illegal armed groups or will perform other tasks assigned by the Lithuanian army.

In times of peace, the commandant units will be filled with professional military servicemen, assigned conscripts of the prepared reserve, commandant riflemen of the Lithuanian Rifle Association and civilians. In peacetime, their military training will be ensured by the National Defense Volunteer Forces (KASP).

It is planned that the military training in the military units of the military commanderies will start in October.
