The mixed relay walk at the Paris Olympics: “It’s going to speak to people, it’s a fun format, but…”

This Saturday, April 8, the walkers were finally able to discover their program for the next Olympic Games in Paris. If we knew that the 50 km, a historic event, was going to be removed from the program, the identity of its replacement has been made official by the IOC: it will be a mixed event, where a man and a woman relay twice to cover the distance of a marathon. A format that aims to be “innovative, dynamic and unpredictable”, but which divides the athletes, as explained by Clémence Beretta, current French record holder of the 20 km walk.
