The quality of the training provided by the Academy sets it up as an “example” for African football first and then world football, noted Mr. Ley, in a statement to MAP.

The work carried out has contributed to bringing “superior quality” to the national team, notes the vice-president of the IFFHS, who reports “emulation” between coaches and trainers “who have got in tune”.

“It is a locomotive which drives the rest, making quality become more and more important, and this is what happened in Moroccan football with this Academy, which managed to reconcile precisely this training and the qualitative side,” he says.

“Thanks to the projects carried out under the leadership of HM the King, Morocco has the best facilities (stadiums, academy, infrastructure, etc.) in all of Africa, which make the Kingdom a model in Africa and at the global level,” argued this former player and ex-club president.

Morocco is recognized worldwide by the quality of its facilities, training and teams, as evidenced by the world rankings, where Morocco is often represented, underlines Mr. Ley, who cites, in this regard, the cases of the coach national Walid Regragui and Atlas Lions goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who were in the running respectively for the title of best coach and best goalkeeper in the world.

He also names Achraf Hakimi, who was part of the world eleven of the year 2023, and Ghizlane Chebbak, captain of the Moroccan women’s selection, who was part of the Top 10 of the best leaders of the game in the world.

Welcoming the place now occupied by the Moroccan selection, the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-final of a World Cup, Mr. Ley believes that the 4th position at the Qatar World Cup “showed that Moroccan football progresses more and more”.

This hierarchy should be confirmed during the current African Cup in Ivory Coast, where Morocco is among the contenders for the African title, notes the vice-president of the IFFHS.

“I think it will continue. When I see all the young Moroccan players playing in all the best championships in the world, the next generation is largely assured,” maintains Mr. Ley.

“There is a quality that is there today, which shows that Moroccan football is the best at the African level,” he notes, arguing that the national team can easily find itself in the Top 10 in the world.

The “extraordinary” capacity that Morocco has been developing in recent years is also seen in the evolution of women’s football which is also experiencing “remarkable development”, notes the vice-president of the IFFHS, recalling in this sense the results of the Atlas Lionesses during the last World Cup organized in Australia and New Zealand and the African Cup of Nations, held in Morocco.
