The Mohammed VI Football Academy, a reference model in player training (Hassan Moumen)

This academy, which opened its doors in 2009, has contributed significantly to the training and emergence of many Moroccan talents, who have proven themselves on European pitches, such as Nayef Aguerd, Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri, he said in a statement to MAP.

These names are contributing today to the glorious journey of the national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a journey marked by the qualification of the national team for the semi-finals, for the first time in the history of Arab and African football, he said, noting that the national team aims to play in the final and, why not, win the world title.

He added that the training method in force in the academy, combining study and sport, has encouraged the emergence of players with a good cultural level, which is able to facilitate their integration into European teams when they leave the academy at the age of 18.

It is time to encourage and support all national clubs to launch their own academies and rely on training based on scientific methods conducted within the framework of developed infrastructures, he said, regretting the absence of such academies, with the exception of those opened by the Fath Union Sports (FUS) of Rabat, the Sports Association of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the Renaissance Sportive of Berkane, and soon the Raja Club Athletic of Casablanca.

The creation of academies by national clubs will contribute to strengthening competition between them and the Mohammed VI Academy, which is likely to pave the way for the emergence of many energies, he considered, stressing that this kind of competition is the only way to reach the required technical levels and to train players capable of evolving at the highest level and within the biggest football schools in the world.

The creation of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, which mobilized investments of around 140 million dirhams, is the expression of the High Solicitude granted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the sporting issue in general, and to the development of football practice in particular.

Covering an area of approximately 18 hectares, the Mohammed VI Football Academy aims to contribute to the selection and training of high-level footballers, through an educational system combining sport and studies.

The Mohammed VI Football Academy was built and equipped according to the standards in force in world-class European professional training centers, with the aim of listening to Moroccan youth and providing them with the right conditions for acquiring academic sports training allowing them to progress within the biggest football clubs in Morocco and Europe.
