The Mohammed VI Football Academy has greatly contributed to the development of talents in Morocco (Youssef Lemrini)

This academy has a unit responsible for prospecting young talents in all regions of Morocco and integrating the best of them in order to refine and develop their playing skills, Lemrini stressed in a statement to MAP.

This work has borne fruit with several players who have distinguished themselves, particularly in the 2022 World Cup, he said.

This academy, one of the best in the world, due to its administrative and sports structures, is a plus for football and for sport in Morocco, which constitutes a breeding ground for sporting talents to promote, he said.

Inaugurated in March 2010 by HM King Mohammed VI, this academy allows the training of young people for elite football both in Morocco and abroad, meeting international standards in this area and offering a suitable framework as well as optimal comfort and security conditions.

This Royal project aims to promote football practice and its development through the identification and training of talented footballers, some of whom today form the backbone of the national team which was able to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, a first in the history of Arab and African football.

After twelve years of activity, Morocco is reaping the benefits, with players who are bringing joy to Moroccans during the 2022 World Cup, such as Youssef En-Nesyri, striker for Sevilla FC (Spain), Nayef Aguerd, defender for West Ham United (England) and Azzedine Ounahi, midfielder for the French club Angers SCO, who are Academy graduates, not to mention Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti, goalkeeper for WAC Casablanca.
