jpnn.com – JAKARTA – The momentum for Shin Tae Yong’s dismissal as Indonesian National Team Coach was not right.
That’s according to football observer Mohammad Kusnaeni.
In Kusnaeni’s view, the dismissal of a national team coach is a normal thing.
PSSI has full authority to appoint, dismiss or replace the national team coach.
“What is a bit regretful is the momentum. “STY was replaced when the national team was facing a critical phase in the struggle to reach the 2026 World Cup,” said Kusnaeni, Monday (6/1).
“The Indonesian national team still has four matches (in the third round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup) which are quite tough, but there is still a chance to graduate,” he added.
According to Kusnaeni, it would be more ideal if PSSI let Shin Tae Yong finish his work.
After the national team’s trip ends, an assessment can be made of the Korean coach’s performance.
If Shin Tae Yong’s successor in the Indonesian National Team does not live up to expectations, then Erick Thohir will also be in danger.
