Celta de Vigo reported on Monday that it has reached an agreement with Pumas, a team led by former sky blue coach Antonio ‘El Turco’ Mohamed, for the transfer of Uruguayan striker Toro Fernández to the Mexican team, who will pay 4 million euros for his signing.
The Uruguayan attacker arrived in Balaídos in the summer of 2019 from Peñarol to replace the loss of his compatriot Maxi Gómez, transferred to Valencia. However, Toro Fernández hardly had any chances in his first season at Celta de Vigo (554 minutes and one goal) and the following year he went on loan to Zaragoza in the Second Division.
After passing through the Aragonese team, the Uruguayan striker returned to Juárez on loan, where he played in recent seasons. In the Mexican championship, he played 47 games and signed 12 goals.
