MADRID, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Moroccan Navy has rescued 141 migrants and refugees who were traveling aboard a boat heading to the Canary Islands, military sources said this Friday, days after 180 people were also helped in Atlantic waters in two other operations.

The pattern is repeated in this latest rescue, which took place on Thursday, since the boat had supposedly left from Senegal, specifically from the town of Mbour. The people traveling on board have been identified as Senegalese, according to sources cited by the official MAP news agency.

More than 150 people have lost their lives this year off the west coast of Africa, according to data from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which has recorded more than 720 fatalities on this migratory route since 2014.
