MADRID, 22 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Moroccan Navy has rescued 190 migrants of sub-Saharan origin in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, as reported on Tuesday by military sources, who have assured that all these people have been transferred in good health to the continent.

The migrants, including eleven women, were traveling in various boats located between the towns of Tan Tan and Dakhla, the latter already located in the territory of Western Sahara. The rescued people have been made available to the Gendarmerie for administrative procedures, according to the MAP agency.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that at least 140 people have lost their lives this year on the route that connects West Africa with the Canary Islands, although the real figure would be higher. Since 2014, more than 700 migrants and refugees have died in this area.
