The mortgage firm falls more than 12% in Córdoba in March

The mortgage firm to acquire a home in Córdoba fell 12% in the last year, between March 2022 and the same month of this 2023. According to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), a total of 653 mortgage loans were signed in the province in the third month of the year, while in 2022 that figure reached 750 loans. All this means that an average of 21 mortgages per day have been signed in the province during the month of March.

The year started with 526 mortgages in January, which rose to 816 for February and fell again to 653 in March. In other words, so far this year they have consolidated 1,995 mortgages -for 2,008 of the same period of 2022-. However, if the statistics are located in the third month of 2021, the drop is even greater, 46%, taking into account that it was the year after the Covid crisis, a year that paralyzed many families from taking a decision as important as buying a home.



As for the amount mortgaged, those almost 2,000 mortgages signed so far in 2023 entailed a total of 266 million euros mortgaged, while those of 2022 represented an amount of 338 million euros. Taking the average by mortgage, it can be seen that the money mortgaged last year was 21% higher than this year.

The entity that grants the loan for the purchase of a home is also reflected in the INE data, which states that most of them have been made, as is normal, through banks559 of them, while only 94 have been made through other entities in the month of March.

Of the 14,176 mortgages with changes in their conditions, 32.1% are due to changes in interest rates. After the change in conditions, the percentage of fixed-interest mortgages increased from 13.0% to 40.2%, while that of variable-interest mortgages decreased from 85.6% to 58.0%.
