The research company National Research Group surveyed gamers regarding the most desired film adaptations of game franchises. The results showed that many dream of films based on GTA, Sims and other popular titles, the DTF portal reports, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
Players expressed a desire to see films and TV series based on popular games such as Call of Duty, The Legend of Zelda, God of War, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Minecraft, Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption and GTA.
Some of these games are already in the process of being adapted. For example, a God of War TV series is already in development, as well as films based on The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, and The Sims with Margot Robbie.
The survey also found that 72% of respondents feel inspired to replay games after watching their adaptations. The majority (65%) believe that movies and TV shows based on games are an effective way to introduce loved ones to their favorite franchises. Also, 77% of participants believe it is important for the creators of adaptations to be fans of the games being filmed, and 59% are upset when a film does not reflect the spirit of the original source material.
National Research Group noted that recent adaptations have significantly increased the recognition of some franchises. For example, The Last of Us increased its recognition by 15%, Five Nights at Freddy’s by 13%, Fallout by 6%, and Twisted Metal by 3%.
