Aitoliko is a fishing village located in Akarnania, Greece and is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the entire world. However, it stands out for an incredible peculiarity: it can only be accessed through two bridges.
It is located in the middle of the Messolongi archipelago and is known as the Little Venice of Greece, as it is surrounded by an impressive landscape of lagoons. It has a population of only 1,200 inhabitants.

There is the Mesolongi-Aitoliko Lagoon National Park, one of the largest lagoons in the Mediterranean Sea and the largest delta in the country where plant and animal life prevail. There are 290 species of birds and more than 100 types of fish.

Most of its visitors travel through this small city on foot, since due to its small size it is easy to visit any place. Its access is only through two bridges.

In Aitoliko there are also historical structures and monuments. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, with its typical 17th century architecture located in the main square. From the top of its bell tower, visitors can enjoy the spectacular view of the entire territory.
On the rocky slope, a few kilometers from the center, are the ruins of a Venetian castle and the remains of an ancient amphitheatre, which cannot be missed.
