“The most humiliating event in our history”: Donald Trump against leaving Afghanistan

by time news

“The most embarrassing and humiliating event in the history of the United States”, today (Tuesday) former President of the United States Donald Trump called the withdrawal of the Americans from Afghanistan, which took place exactly one year ago. In a post he published on the Truth social network, Trump claimed that the disaster is not in leaving the territory, but in the way it was done.

“The Afghanistan disaster that occurred a year ago was the most embarrassing and humiliating event for the United States. This is not about the fact that we left, I was the one who reduced the number of American soldiers to only 2,000 in preparation for the move, but the way we left,” Trump wrote.

He even detailed what he said was “so sad” in the process of leaving Afghanistan: “They chose to take out the military forces first, when 13 were killed during the evacuation and many more were injured, as well as the fact that many Americans remained in the country and military equipment worth over 85 billion dollars left behind”.

The criticism on the part of the former president is not the only one that the American move received, when: a new US intelligence report points to what appears to be one of the biggest omissions caused by the withdrawal of American forces – thousands of fighters from the Afghan army, trained by the US army, were forced to flee to Iran.
