VMG Group in 2019 made a strategic decision regarding the development of VMG Technics and the creation of an industrial innovation park. The area chosen for the implementation of the project is near the airfield, located on the main national highway A1, thus ensuring a convenient location for logistics. in 2017 engineering infrastructure has already started to be installed in the territory in order to prepare the territory for future investors.

Will open up opportunities for local and international industry

According to investor and sole shareholder of VMG Group Sigitas Paulauskas, “VMG Technics R&D Park” will unite the entire technology development chain under one roof.

“The need for such an ambitious project came after realizing the niche, that according to unique orders, the production of industrial technologies in the region is not developed. We took the lead in order for this park to open up even wider opportunities for the creation, development and adaptation of technological solutions to industrial companies operating in the Baltic States and abroad,” said S. Paulauskas.

According to him, engineering robotics, automation, artificial intelligence solution development and production units are already operating in the park. The production of stamped parts and complex metal constructions, their processing and painting works are also carried out.

According to Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of Economy and Innovation, VMG Technics R&D Park will contribute to increasing the country’s competitiveness, promote business and science cooperation, and create new jobs with high added value.

“The new industrial innovation park reflects Lithuania’s ambitious aspiration to be the innovation leader in the region. Innovative automation and robotization solutions will be developed here, which will significantly contribute to the technological progress and competitiveness of the country’s industry. Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem is growing rapidly – thanks to investors such as VMG Group, infrastructure is being built in the country for the development of innovations and high technologies, and for conducting advanced scientific research. Jobs with high added value are also being created. The country’s progress is also shown by global rankings – the growth of Lithuanian innovativeness is ahead of the European average”, says the Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė.

S. Paulauskas also said that the created engineering technological ecosystem will unite experts and scientists focused on the 4th generation technological revolution and will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the industry and the country.

“We believe that this park will become an international innovation center. Here, in one place, it will be possible to ensure all industrial technology development needs of companies in Scandinavia, the USA, Japan, Australia or any other country – from the idea to the solution and the highest level of service”, emphasized S. Paulauskas.

Knowledge will be openly shared in the competence center

The area of the Industrial Innovation Park building is 21,000 square meters. meters, of which 15,560 sq. meters consists of production – storage premises, 5420 sq. meters – administrative premises, public spaces, technical premises. The park also has a 400 sq. meters of training space, which houses an advanced industrial innovation laboratory.

Mantas Leknius, head of VMG Technics, which is developing the park, said that scientific and experimental activities will be carried out in the laboratory: special equipment has been acquired for testing, data collection and analysis.

“The important thing is that it is not and will not be locked under nine locks. Research-scientific spaces will be available to companies interested in industrial progress, technological universities operating in Lithuania and abroad, with which joint projects are already being developed. Inside the company, the improvement of employees’ competences was constantly taken care of, and now, after the doors of a new project opened and a suitable space appeared, it was decided to share the available knowledge with external partners and customers,” said M. Leknius.

According to him, the biggest competitive advantage of the park is people – more than 250 engineers of the highest competence, training managers, professionals in their field, for whom conditions have been created to employ their professional qualities and potential.

“We drew on experience from around the world, learned and observed how others work, and established relationships with such global industry leaders as ABB, Siemens, Beckhoff, Lenze and others. We believe that by uniting experts and scientists in this park, we will receive new inventions that will make Lithuania famous in the world”, said M. Leknius.
