Windows 10 was named the most popular operating system on the computers of Steam gamers. The publication Neowin drew attention to this, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
The digital platform’s monthly report for September indicated that Windows 10 was installed on the computers of 48.66 percent of players. Windows 11 had a share of 47.69 percent – the current OS is slightly behind the outdated one. In third place was Windows 7, which is used by 0.3 percent of Steam users.
Neowin journalists noticed that in August, Windows 11 was the most popular operating system among gamers for the first time. “The celebration of Windows 11 turned out to be short-lived,” the authors noted. However, the material says that Windows 10 is likely to soon lose its leadership.
The shares of non-Windows operating systems remained insignificant. Linux is used by 1.87 percent of consumers, Apple’s macOS by 1.29 percent.
According to Steam research, most often the gaming computer of service users has 16 gigabytes of RAM, a processor with a frequency of up to 2.69 gigahertz, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 video card, and 1 terabyte of internal memory. On 36.57 percent of PCs, Chinese is installed as the system language, 30.91 percent – English, 8.32 percent – Russian.
