On April 16, the premiere of the musical “Dūzgės avily” staged by the students and teachers of the Kaunas District Art School took place at the Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator, which received sincere support from the audience and praise for the professionally staged work, expertly managed by a large group of 220 performers. The joint youth and youth choir of the School of Art, the joint orchestra and the artists of the art department participated in the production of the musical, which perfectly fulfilled the idea of the authors of the musical. I am happy about the creativity of the people of Kaunas and a little bit jealous that it was not the people from Priene who have the potential to produce this musical first, especially since the author of the script is a well-known teacher from Priene, Deputy Director of Education at “Revuona” Primary School, Methodist Kristina NASTULEVIČIENĖ, a primary school teacher . After the successful premiere of the musical, she and other members of the creative team had to experience exciting moments of recognition and honor on stage.

A few days after the event, Kristina Nastulevičienė shared her thoughts about such an attractive creative path, in which more than one piece she wrote was transferred to the stage.
– The musical “Dūzgės avily” (based on the play “Queen of Bees”) is already the fourth musical project of me and composer Indra Mažuikaitė, realized on stage. Without a doubt, this is the most massive and professional construction option, as it was implemented by a very large team of artists, – said Kristina Nastulevičienė.
According to Kristina, her and Indra Mažuikaitė’s friendship began back in the summer of 2017, when the idea arose to write the first children’s musical that would be relevant for today’s children. Then she quickly wrote an original text with five songs about modern children and called it “Generation Z”. Soon the composer created melodies. The community of “Revuonas” elementary school in Prienai “got fired up” with the idea of a musical, and already on December 22, 2017, the premiere of this musical took place on the stage of the Prienai Culture and Leisure Center.
Kristina tells in 2018 after creating the text and words for a new musical called “Queen of Bees”: “This is probably the libretto that required the most work, because the musical is based on the life cycles of bees, so I had to study the life of bees a lot to make the text mature and meaningful. The music was created by Indra Mažuikaitė, but the piece was lying in a drawer for four years, and until 2022 it was waiting for its team, the one who would dare to fulfill it and show it on stage in all its beauty.”
That day, according to K. Nastulevičienė, came when Kaunas district art schools

“Ronja – the robber’s daughter” is one of the children’s musicals, the script for which was written by K. Nastulevičienė.

the director took this initiative, united the students and teachers of the school for a common goal, a choir of 120 children and an orchestra of 60 musicians united for its implementation. The musical was directed by Kaunas Drama Theater actor Tomas Erdbrėderis. The orchestra was conducted by Indra Mažuikaitė, the author of the musical’s music herself. The Raudondvaris manor arts incubator hall was needed to accommodate such a massive event. Kristina admits that it was already very interesting to be in the audience and watch how the director adapted the script she wrote to the stage, what decisions he made: “When I came back, I opened the script again and was happy – many of the dialogues I wrote were not changed, and the main idea and intrigue were implemented.
Since 2018, Kristina Nastulevičienė and Indra Mažuikaite have co-created two more children’s musicals: “Ronja – daughter of a robber” (according to A. Lindgren) and “Girl looking for the sun”. Both musicals were staged on the stage of the Prienai Culture and Leisure Center with the efforts of the “Revuonas” elementary school team and the “Ramunėlė” studio, and their premieres were well received by the audience.
“The most gratifying thing is that the work lives on, does not remain forgotten, does not die somewhere in a drawer. And when a large team of professionals trusts him, his heart overflows with honey…”, the author of musicals rejoiced.
