The Ministry of Interior confirmed, on Friday, that the motives behind the murder of a family in Baiji were criminal, to steal gold jewelry.

The ministry stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “against the backdrop of the incident of killing an entire family and burning them in Baiji district, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, directed the formation of a specialized working team from the Salah al-Din Police, the Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Department of the province, and the Falcons Intelligence Cell, to find out the circumstances of this incident.”
The statement added, “In record time, with qualitative intelligence work and continuous follow-up, the security team was able to reach important clues about her, as two suspects were arrested, one of whom is a relative of the victim.”
The statement confirmed that “the motives behind this criminal act were the theft of gold jewelry. The perpetrators confessed to the crime, and an investigation was conducted at the scene of the incident. Legal measures were taken against them so that they would receive their just punishment.”
