Moulay Bouazza (Khénifra province) 11/29/2023 (MAP) – The Moulay Bouazza maternity home, created as part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), is an innovative structure that emphasizes the key role of the mother in society and promotes maternal and child health.

This structure, which is part of the fourth program of the National Initiative for Human Development “Impulse of the human capital of young generations”, aims to bring health services closer to pregnant women in the commune of Moulay Bouazza, to increase the rate of childbirth in a supervised environment, in addition to welcoming and housing pregnant women before and after childbirth.

Dar Al Oumouma of Moulay Bouazza, built on an area of 90 square meters, includes several outbuildings, including administrative premises, rooms for pregnant women, a waiting room, a kitchen, in addition to sanitary facilities.

It is part of the new generation structures set up within the framework of the 3rd phase of the National Initiative for Human Development, with the aim of ensuring better monitoring of the health of the mother and the newborn, and control of pregnancy in safe conditions under strict medical supervision.

The socio-sanitary center, which began providing its services in 2022 and is managed by a local association active in promoting maternal and child health, aims to ultimately reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in this predominantly mountainous area, in addition to increasing the percentage of beneficiary women from remote areas that are difficult to access.

In a statement to MAP, Mourad Ahti, from the Social Action Division at the prefecture of the province of Khenifra, indicated that the INDH worked, within the framework of program 4 “Impulse of the human capital of rising generations”, in particular its axis relating to maternal and child health, to create 7 maternity hospitals spread across the province, which made it possible to reduce maternal and infant-juvenile mortality in these environments and improve knowledge and practices regarding the growth of children and maternal and child care in these areas.

Maternity hospitals, as social institutions par excellence, work to provide local health services to mothers in the pre- and postnatal phase, and work to bring health services closer to pregnant women from mountainous areas by alleviating their suffering and improving maternal and child health, which is one of the priority areas of the INDH.

The head of the Association in charge of managing the maternity ward, Souad Mimouni, indicated that this center offers many health services to women living in remote and difficult to access areas, noting that this center is not limited to welcoming pregnant women, but rather provides quality accommodation, awareness and prevention services, health care and advice, in addition to social and psychological support for women and meticulous accompaniment.

The Moulay Bouazza maternity home illustrates the Initiative’s unwavering commitment to bringing health facilities closer to women in rural areas, and focusing on achieving spatial justice, the aim being to alleviate the suffering of these women in the area of access to care and medicines, in addition to tackling the obstacles to human development.
