Nearly 80 children and young people from Montana took part in the annual competition “I saw the trouble with my own eyes”. The initiative is of the Main Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” at the Ministry of the Interior in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Children’s Palace .
The idea is to encourage the development of creative abilities in children and students, and at the same time direct their attention to the disasters in the world, cultivate empathy for the victims and willingness to provide help, volunteer work and protect the environment.
In the first age group from 7 to 10 years, the winners are:
1st place – Nikol Parvanova from the 5th elementary school “Hristo Botev”;
2nd place – Nikola Petkov from the 5th elementary school “Hristo Botev”;
3rd place – Diana Petkova – 5th Kindergarten “Rainbow”.
In the second age group from 11 to 13 years:
1st place – Ivon Todorova – 1st Elementary School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”;
2nd place – Kristin Tsenova – 1st Elementary School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”;
3rd place – Ivan- Alexander Ivanov – 1st OU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”.
Third age group from 14 to 18 years:
1st place – Roksana Petrova – Science and Mathematics Profiled High School “St. Kliment Ohridski”;
II place – Desislava Ilieva VI “Father Paisiy” Secondary School;
3rd place – Emily Dubois – “Peter Bogdan” High School with teaching of foreign languages.
For the awardees, participation continues at the regional level and upon successful ranking at the national level.
The contest “I saw the trouble with my own eyes” was held for the first time in 2002 at the initiative of the then state agency “Civil Protection”. For a certain period, the name of the competition was changed to “Rescuer Mission”, but since 2012 the original name has been restored. Since 2006, the competition has grown into an international one under the auspices of the Secretariat of the Partial Agreement on Major Risks of the Council of Europe.
