Following a message being circulated on social media, which called for the residents of Acre to go to high places for fear of a tsunami, the municipality announced: “There is no such directive. In the case of a true alert, an orderly message will be issued”

The Municipality of Acre issued a clarification message tonight (Monday) following a message being circulated on social networks about a tsunami approaching Acre, and a call to go to higher places.

In a message distributed online it is stated that in recent days the retreat of the sea has begun in the Middle East and an extreme low. The municipality clarified that this is fake news: “We would like to clarify that as of now there is no such directive. In the case of a true alert, an orderly announcement will be issued to that effect.”
