It should be noted that the Open Government Partnership (OGP) announced the membership of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region in the local program of the partnership for open government (PGO Local) on May 17, 2022.

The Local Open Government Partnership Programme is a component of the Open Government Partnership Initiative, targeting regional and local governments and local authorities, given the importance of their role and their proximity to citizens and the services provided which require efficiency and responsiveness.

The local open government programme aims to promote reforms aimed at greater openness, responsiveness and innovation through the strengthening of cooperation, transparency and citizen participation.

The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region is the first region in the Middle East and North Africa to join this initiative, launched in 2016.

The Open Government Partnership Initiative’s local programme aims to encourage local governments to adopt and implement the principles and values of the Initiative, including budget transparency, access to information, integrity and anti-corruption, and citizen participation.
